Hello, and welcome to the new members. Wow, has this group grown! I would like to meet you all. Please post something about yourself, your faith, and why you joined this tribe.
I'll start. I'm a cradle Catholic (born Catholic) and almost made the biggest mistake of my life several years ago--I was going to leave the Church, except I remembered the vows of my confirmation and promise I made to God. So, I sought a Catholic church and began learning about it, fell in love with it and realized that these dudes with the funny hats had something going on. They're lots smarter than me, and I should listen to them because I'm not that well educated. I started this tribe because a few years back, there were no Catholic tribes for people who were really serious about the faith, learning and growing and sharing their faith.
That's why we're here-to fulfill the Churchs' call to evangelize. We all need evangelization, even those of us who are hardcore Catholics. We need to be uplifted, encouraged, refreshed and renewed in our faith so we can do the work of our Father in the world.
God bless you!

Re: Wow, 139 people! Post something, anything, about yourself
Sat, March 24, 2007 - 7:37 AMMy parents brought me into the world as what some call a cradle Catholic. I went to Catholic schools for nine years. Then we moved to the suburbs and I lost touch with the Church for about twenty five years. On a trip to Ireland, I saw the pervasive and powerful effect of the Church that one can't see near my home in the Pacific northwest of the U.S.A. After seeing the Churches in Ireland, I felt motivated to find a Church for myself. I then saw the beauty of the Mass. So, for the past three years, I have gone to Mass. I now go to our Cathedral Church thought I am not officially registered with it.
I struggle with my situation. I have a long way to go to become a model believer. I look forward to the day when the Church will become the center of my life.

Re: Wow, 139 people! Post something, anything, about yourself
Sat, March 24, 2007 - 8:02 AMThanks for starting this little place for us LL.
I was raised without formal religion. My parents both came from strict Baptist families and decided on raising me religion free, but like them I always believed in God... I guess until about 25 I would have been what they call "agnostic".
I was always so in love with the Catholic Church, it seemed (and is) so romantic and beautiful and full of mystery. I decided to throw myself into knowing everything I could about the Church in March of 2005. Many books later and searches via Google, I located a gorgeous church nearby and in September of 2005 I began RCIA.
Here we are and Easter 2007 is just round the corner, and it will be my one year Anniversary of being baptized!!! The Church is the best thing that's ever happened to me!! -

Sun, March 25, 2007 - 8:11 AMMy husband and I both grew up protestant He says that he was actually a Catholic born into a protestant home. When he told me again for the forth or fifth time that he has always wanted to go to Catholic church, I thought, hey why not and actually made him call later in the week to get the ball rolling.
I have never met so many kind and loving people in my life....I will be attending my first Mass this morning and I am really looking forward to it,

I feel the same way. I feel a strong pull to the Church. I was raised a Lutheran--close but no cigar. I am not Catholic and do not expect to embrace Her anytime soon. I am a Neo-Platonist, but I have an admiration for the Church, because She has preserved the best of all traditions. -

Wed, May 9, 2007 - 2:50 PMThank you all for posting your stories, they are very moving and inspiring.
Martine, I especially thank you, because your story is a great testimony to our faith, even though you are on the outside looking in. I hope and pray that whatever path you choose, it is the path that Creator God is leading you, and you are happy and full of peace.
I do not know what a neo-platonist is; can you elaborate? I am very interested. Thanks!

Re: Wow, 139 people! Post something, anything, about yourself
Wed, September 12, 2007 - 7:10 AMHi, everyone, I'm so glad this tribe is here. I was looking for a safe place away from Catholic bashing. I keep running into Catholic haters no matter which tribe message board I end up on. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic grammar school (where the nuns were wonderful instead of all the horror stories you hear!). Some of my views on doctrine differ for logical reasons, but I could never switch to another faith because I love the Eucharist. I married at a young age to a man who converted to Catholicism, was married quite a long time until the situation turned abusive. My current boyfriend is a resident of England, not Catholic, and there are times I really long to have a partner whose conscience is based on religious values. We are both musicians, and often I wonder how I can be so spiritual but love my rock music, also. I'm a strange mixture. :o) I'm appalled by much of what I see in this world and the way it is heading. So hedonistic. I wonder when people will finally realize that "me first" should be replaced by "others first"? I feel very isolated in this society.

Re: Wow, 139 people! Post something, anything, about yourself
Mon, November 19, 2007 - 7:06 PMI was on here about 2 years ago, then left tribe after they changed formats, but decided to come back.
I was baptized Catholic but was raised in the Episcopalian church until I was 18. I had a falling out with my youth group leader and my pastor and left the church completely, but never gave up on my faith. In 2004 I made the decision to learn more about the Catholic faith after I started working at a Catholic church and I met some really amazing people. I went through the RCIA process and at the Easter Vigil Mass I was confirmed and experienced my 1st Eucharist.
2 years later and I'm still going to Mass and I'm happy I became Catholic. :-) -
