Today's enactment, at Mass, of the passion of Christ touched me as never before this.

Tue, April 3, 2007 - 4:07 PMhmmmmmmmmm............I don't know that I've ever heard wear red for palm sunday. Divine Mercy Sunday, and Pentecostal Sunday are red days, but I never knew that about Palm Sunday. Making mental note for next year. Thanks! :) -

Re: Palm Sunday
Wed, April 4, 2007 - 6:51 AMAlmost everyone who came to the 12:00 Mass wore red.... we all met in a park near the church where we received our palms and the Priest gave a blessing and we marched to the church while singing.... it had a great feeling of togetherness and family.
The church bulletin from the week before had an announcment about the red and they announced it in RCIA for us newbies who wouldn't have known. -

Re: Palm Sunday
Wed, April 4, 2007 - 2:53 PMPlease tell me about wearing red; I have not heard of that phenomenon for Catholic holidays before! My favourite colour! Is it to represent the blood of Christ? -

Re: Palm Sunday
Wed, April 4, 2007 - 6:25 PMI know the Priests and Deacons wear red, and I just noticed in our Bulliten that we were invited to wear red as well (must have skimmed over that bit) This is all I could find:
Red - Pentecost, Precious Blood, the Holy Spirit, feast of a Martyer
Originally the Roman Catholic Church officially called this Sunday the Second Sunday of the Passion; in 1970 the formal designation was changed to Passion Sunday, a change that has caused considerable confusion because the latter term had heretofore been affixed to the previous Sunday, or the fifth within Lent. It is now called "Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion." -
